A-Y Well in Libya

Through optimized bit selection, drilling parameters, and on-site decision-making, the well achieved efficient drilling under complex conditions. ROP met or exceeded design targets in all sections, NPT was controlled at 2.6%, active operation time reached 81%, and the well was completed in 24.48 days, demonstrating Brilliant's technical strength and execution capability in complex oilfield operations.

Background

The well was spud on June 17, 2026, and released on July 11, 2026. The planned total depth was 5,850 ft, with an actual total depth of 5,867 ft.

Challenge

The operation encountered losses and water zones, requiring water collection to continue blind drilling, along with handling BHA changes and wiper trips for logging.

Solution

By changing the 12-1/4" bit and downhole motor, collecting water to continue blind drilling, and optimizing wiper trip and logging procedures, non-productive time was effectively controlled.

Results

Actual ROP met or exceeded design targets in all sections, with 30 ft/hr in the 17-1/2" section (plan: 31 ft/hr) and 38 ft/hr in the 12-1/4" section (plan: 38 ft/hr). NPT was only 2.6%, with active operation time at 81%. The well was completed in 24.48 days, achieving efficient drilling performance.
